pendants

Sometimes a pebble will catch my eye and take my breath away. I use diamond tipped bits to drill small holes. This process is painstakingly slow and has to take place under running water. Sometimes it reveals the pebble’s beautiful core; sometimes it accentuates its gorgeous shape; and sometimes I’m inspired to highlight its charm with glass or rock beads.

Japanese Wrapped Stones

Each of these rocks has a long, tumultuous history. They’ve weathered stormy seas, rough terrain, and seismic events to become the perfectly shaped specimens they are today. I wrap them using an ancient Japanese tradition. I have to respect the rock’s unique shape, carefully managing the tension of the leather cord or bamboo cane to produce a pattern. Rocks like this were used in many Japanese gardens to line a path that would lead a traveller’s way home.

Macramé creatures

The Giant Pacific Octopus is smart, flexible, playful, and curious. The ones on this site are macrame specimens made of cotton cord, wooden beads, and wire.
